As I understand it, the UCA as the official designated local association of USAC, has the authority to configure 'State Championships' more or less in any configuration it wants to. There are a few caviates and comformities that apply. In terms of age-grade championships, if UCA wants to disregard age graded events and substitute ability based ...

Jeremy, I don't see it as a deterrent, (adding 35-39 power to the 'A's.) I welcome the power. I see it as making the 'A' group as competitive as possible. There are a handful of cat I and cat II guys that normally ride category that could cross over on certain events, but not enough to dominate week in and week out even if they did. After ...

I'm 100% on board with you Mike with this configuration. How you do this is a club in good standing will present an amendment to the original amendment or create a substitute amendment in entirety. Technically, a club could prepare for both contingencies from a procedural point of view.

Thanks Mike,
That data is really helpful. I'm inclined to create Master's C given that data. For those counting, can you believe that there are almost almost 800 riders in Utah between that ages of 35 and 65!
The data suggests we have plenty of opportunity to improve participation. We might be wise to have master's categories partially self ...

Allowing a fat and out of shape Cat III Master's to race Master's B gives the fat old guy a fighting chance, to get back into shape, thus increasing participation.
What of the master cat III who is 35 years old an has not raced for several years? Throw him in with the dogs or give him a chance and a choice master's B or cat III? Ought naught ...

The reason for the legislation is to stabilize Utah's event matrix by creating the ability to use the point series strategically. I argue that the primary reason bike racer's race their bikes is for quality events promoted by high quality organizations, with challenging courses, and good competition. While the point series adds an element of ...

To avoid hypotheticals, one presumes that identified point events are set up in the pre-season so as to not tip the deck at some-point later on. Also, I presume that there is some code of ethics, or there should be, where a Director recuse themselves from conflict of interest and passes the baton to the next authority.

Yep Mike,
I think at this stage in the maturity of the UCA, it's a risk worth taking. If people are uncomfortable with the idea at first, I don't care if there is some check to the balance. I don't think it will be necessary, and I think it's a layer of micro-management that could become uncomfortable to all. I wouldn't want someone looking over ...

The following proposed UCA Bylaw Amendment would require a club in UCA good standing to submit for membership consideration at the up and coming annual meeting.
I'm reluctant to opine on anything, however, if I may...First,
I presume that the UCA as an association of USA Cycling, the UCA has
the same mandate/mission: the growth of bicycle ...
